WWII German M1911 K98 Rifle Ammunition Pouch - Late Pattern Gallery
These are late pattern pouches that have named maker text and no visible dates. This type of pattern features steel fittings, rivets, and short vertical belt straps riveted to the lower back. RBNr numbers began to replace manufacturer names starting in late 1942.
Maker Name Text - No Date Visible
Black pebbled leather with rivets used for pocket lids, straps, and bottoms. All metal fittings are steel. Ammunition clip dividers are all missing but retain the rivets in the pockets. Maker text is hard to read. The letters "enfabrik", "STERN K.G.", and "reite Str.1" are easy to see. Traces of the other text can be determined only after knowing what was on another pouch. No manufacturing date can be found and was most likely never stamped. Ink stamp "89" inside middle lid strap and handwritten "388" on inside middle lid. Black paint on metal fittings indicates it is a Russian capture pouch (20080118-03)
Brown pebbled leather with sewn pocket lids, straps, and bottoms. All metal fittings are steel. Ammunition clip dividers are all missing but retain the rivets in the pockets. Maker text is very hard to read, almost illegible. It required a lot of time with a magnifing glass to read any letters. No manufacturing date can be found. Interesting that the belt straps are black leather. Based on the construction details (All sewn, D-ring), it is very possible that this pouch was made in 1940-41. (20070801)
