August 2008 Ride Log
Where is the summer going...
Saturday August 23
Upper Gussy - Newtown, Connecticut
The day started at 7:30 am with my arrival at the Echo Valley Road parking lot. Paula was already there. A few more people showed up to help with the trail building effort. We each picked up some tools and headed north. We worked two areas that needed benching. It only took about two hours to complete the work and by 11:00AM, we were back at our cars.
Three of us, Mark, Rich and myself got our bikes off our cars and headed out for a ride.

Sunday August 17
Railroad Path / Indian Ledge Park / Pequonnock River Valley - Trumbull, Connecticut
Met up with my friend Ken at the newly paved parking lot at Tait Road. We rode up the railroad bed and crossed over the river at the upper bridge crossing.
We stopped to get some water at the Indian Ledge playground.
We rode south to the dam area and turned around there since I had to get back home.
Friday August 15
Railroad Path / Indian Ledge Park / Pequonnock River Valley - Trumbull, Connecticut
I did a solo ride start at the Tait Road parking lot. It was recently paved and now provides more parking. The old Churchill railroad station once stood here.

Tuesday August 5
Pequonnock River Valley / Indian Ledge Park - Trumbull, Connecticut
I've been putting off riding and needed a nudge. John called and asked if I wanted to cut out of work and go riding. I worked a few days late so I needed a break. We met at the commuter lot and left at 4:08 PM.
Did the usual ride up the white trail and over the dam. We stayed more to the east by staying on the red and yellow trail going past the town composting area. This took us along the side of Indian Ledge Park and eventually back onto the white trail just south of the water park area.
Map of the day's ride on Earth Google. The "C" shape in the open lake area is where the trail goes out into brush. We back tracked to get some blackberry's that are near the river. There wasn't as many as we did last year. We were out for about two and half hours and rode a little over six miles.
