Finally got back on the bike...

Indian Ledge / Pequonnock River Valley - Trumbull, Connecticut

Uber V900Last day of the year and the last chance to get a real trail ride in. Loaded up the Uber V900 and parked at Indian Ledge Park in Trumbull. This would give me quick access to the easier white trail without the hassle of stream crossings (such as that found at the southern commuter lot end) to start off with.

There was still quite a bit a snow and ice although the warm temperatures from the last few days melted most of it. That made the streams quite busy and it didn't take long before my right shoe was wet. I traveled the white trail and at some point, looped back along the blue trail. This section was along the Pequonnock River and is a bit more technical than the easier white trail. When I came to the stream that I got wet in before, I followed it up to the white trail and headed back south toward the old lake bed on the white trail. Once there I headed over to the crash site to see if it was stil there (it was).

Off toward the old dam although at that point I though I was pushing my luck with all the ice and water that I decided to head back once I got to the top of the dam. Followed the white trail all the back to Indian Ledge Park. Managed to get my left foot wet at the same stream crossing. Probably did about four miles. Not a bad start after almost two months off the trails.

Railroad Bed - Trumbull, Connecticut

Uber V900 With temperatures in the lower 40’s and most of the snow gone from the yard, my son and I head to the rail bed.  He rode the Cannondale Super V500 and I used the Uber V900 (a highly modified Super V). Parked the Saturn at the end of Taits Road near Trumbull Center. Got the wheels on the ground and headed into the trail.

It didn't take long before we encountered a lot of ice and snow still on the ground from the last snowfall.  The ice and slush made for a slow go of it.  We turned around at the old ice house ruins.  It was still good to get back out on the bike although I was a little nervous about riding on the ice. At one point I walked over some of the solid ice sections. There were thousands of frozen footprints that made for a rough ride. Most of the ride I did without the shoes clipped in to the pedals just in case the bike suddenly slipped out from under me.  I had my Canon camera with me and didn’t want to break it or me.

My Front Yard - Trumbull, Connecticut

Uber V900 First time on the bike since the accident. I had a goal to ride the bike by the end of the year. With snow coming the next day I didn't have much time. All I did was ride around the front yard. Although it was a short ride and the small bumps hurt my shoulder, it felt good to finally be back on the bike.
