September 2007 Ride Log
Time to meet new friends...
Sunday September 3
Pequonnock River Valley - Trumbull, Connecticut
My son and I took a ride together. He rode my 1996 Cannondale Super V 500 and I rode my Super V 900. We parked on Tait Road and started the ride at the entrance to the railroad bed. I stopped along the way and took pictures of various features of the old railroad that still remain.
We went down to the bridge crossing that had been recently restored after being washed down stream during spring flooding.
Sunday September 23
Gay City State Park - Hebron Connecticut
This ride was the NEMBA Connecticut chapter Fall Fiesta. The Cannondale Uber V900 wasn't quite ready so I took my Super V 500 bike. It is an older bike with V-brakes and 3x8 gears. I had never done a group ride before so I was looking forward to that and a new trail. I loaded up the bike on the roof rack of the Saturn and got to the park at about 10 am for the start.
Once I was signed in, I joined the group. The initial ride was up a few hills and by the time we got to the top we had lost a few riders. The terrain isn't too bad and makes for a nice ride for all skill levels. About two thirds through the ride my back tire started to get soft but I continued on. It's a good thing I didn't try a fill the tire on the trail. When I got back to the car, I filled the tire and went to have lunch. The tire was completely flat when I returned. I was done riding anyway since I had to get back home for a picnic. BikeRag has a nice trail map here.
